We currently live in the small mountain village of Hastings, Pennsylvania. Our house was built in March
of 1894 by Alpheus Clark, the town's liveryman, grain dealer and coal mine owner. He and his wife, Amanda, purchased the property
for $275.00 and lived in the home until his death in 1956. Amanda sold the home to her son, George, for, as the
deed reads, "$1.00 and natural love and affection." When Amanda passed away in 1959, George sold the home to Bill
and Dot Jewett, who lived here until 2006 when Bill died. Dot sold the home to Amber Bennett. In 2012, two separate fires
damaged the second and third floors of the home. Ownership was taken over by the Federal National Mortgage Association, and
later sold to us for $1,000 cash with extensive fire and water damage.
